Friday's Verse

School is out!!!!

What I learned: The Pharisees sent the people to question John the Baptist about why he was baptizing people if he was not Jesus or a prophet. He answered that he baptized with water so that other people could show their faith in God. He also told them that there is one who was walking the earth that they had not yet met.

"He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing."

John 1:27-28

Sorry, I got behind in school last week and the only computer time I got was to do school.... One more week until it is finished!

What I learned: They were looking for an answer to why John knew so much about the Messiah if he was not Him or a prophet. he told them that he was just a man preparing the way or letting people know that the Messiah was coming.

"And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;"

John 1:24-26

Friday's Verse

What I learned: I learned from this verse that we can be popular as John was at this time. People will come to us seeking something as they did to John. They asked John if he was the Messiah. He said that he was not the Messiah. We should to Jesus Christ as John did.

" And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias."

John 1:21-23

Wow! Has it really been that long? Sorry.....

I guess, what is took me 2 weeks to learn: No one has ever looked on the face of God himself. No one knows him fully like Jesus does. Jesus has spoke and told us about him because he knows Him.

Friday's Verse

What I learned from Friday's Verse: Moses brought to the people the law that was sent from God. God wrote the law for his people. God sent His son to save us because we could not do it on our own. GRACE~Not getting what we do deserve. We deserve eternal death and eternal separation in hell from God.

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."
John 1:18

Friday's Verse

What I learned for Tuesday's Verse: I learned that we should tell others like John the Baptist did. We should not be ashamed and say it loudly for everyone to hear. It is not us who saves it is Jesus Christ who gives us grace and Mercy. John said that he was born physically before Jesus but that Jesus existed in Heaven before John even was.

"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

John 1:17

Tuesday's Verse

What I learned for Wednesday's Verse: This verse tells us that Jesus was the Word. He is the only one of the trinity (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit) that took human form. It also tells us that Jesus is the only birth child of God. He was/is without sin.

"John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace."

John 1:15-16

Garrett has not had much free time to post lately. Our schedule has been quite full (ugh!). We will be quite busy for the next two weeks so posts may be scattered. I apologize on his behalf and promise he will post again on Monday. He has his last wrestling tournament for the year tomorrow, so hopefully things can get close to normal (sure).

Wednesday's Verse

What I learned from Tuesday's Verse- He came onto his own people, the Jews. They did not believe that he was the Saviour they were promised. There were others who did believe, he took them into his family. All we have to do is believe that is is the savior and we can be part of his kingdom.

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

John 1:14

Tuesday's Verse

What I learned from Friday's Verse- The true light is the Lord Jesus Christ. The world knows he is the light because nature shows it and the Bible says it. They just do not want to believe.

"He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:11-13

Friday's Verse

What I learned from Thursday's Verse- The man name John (the Baptist) ,who is Jesus' cousin. He told everyone that Jesus would come and save them. He would save them the darkness that was talked about tin the earlier verses. We as Christians have the same job, we are to spread the light to everyone as well. So they do not have to live in darkness but in light.

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not."

John 1:9-10

Thursday's Verse

What I learned from Wednesday's Verse - It tells us that Jesus is the light and he shines in the darkness. The darkness is sin in the world not like day and night. The world does not understand Jesus which means we need to be the light and shine in this dark world. To shine means we must a good testimony to those around us.

"There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light."

John 1:6-8

Wednesday's Verse

What I learned for Tuesday's verse- This verse tells me that the Word is Jesus who is a part of God. It has been that way since the beginning. Jesus is the creator of all things.

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

Tuesday's Verse

What I learned for Monday's verse- I learned that I can always study and improve my knowledge of God. That God will bless if I do all my works according to him. I learned that bragging and babbling are bad and takes you away from God's blessings.

What I learned from Friday's Verse- I learned that I battle with flesh and have to trust in the Spirit and not in myself.
